From Conversations to a Cultural Landmark
What started years ago as conversations between longtime friends and entrepreneurs John Cato and Ruben Torres has evolved into something much bigger. The two connected over a shared passion for business, hospitality, and creating memorable experiences. After John acquired Oliver Perry's in late 2025, he approached Ruben and his partners about becoming involved in the next chapter of the Main Street space.
As time passed and different business paths emerged, it became clear that John and Ruben shared the same vision for what the future could become. That vision is now Main Street Social — the modern evolution of the venue that locals have known for years, completely reimagined with a more refined atmosphere, elevated service, and a stronger focus on entertainment and hospitality.
Inspired by the success and standards established at Oliver Perry's, the team collaborated closely with their chef to curate a tapas-style menu designed to complement the experience perfectly. From handcrafted cocktails and shareable plates to live entertainment and an upscale social atmosphere, every detail was intentionally designed to create the perfect night out.
Guests will still recognize many familiar faces behind the bar, but the transformation throughout the space brings an entirely new energy — warm, inviting, stylish, and relaxed. With beautiful renovations, an impressive new bar top, enhanced entertainment, and a commitment to quality service, Main Street Social is raising the standard for nightlife in Middle Georgia.

John Cato
Co-Founder & Owner
John Cato is the entrepreneurial force who set the foundation for what Main Street Social would become. After acquiring Oliver Perry's in late 2025, John saw an opportunity not just to operate a venue — but to elevate it into something the entire community could rally around. His business instincts, combined with a genuine love for hospitality, drove the vision from concept to reality.
John's approach to ownership is hands-on and community-first. He believes that a great bar isn't just about what's in the glass — it's about the people in the room, the energy in the air, and the memories being made. That philosophy is woven into every corner of Main Street Social.
Ruben Torres
Co-Founder & Partner
Ruben Torres brings a creative energy and entrepreneurial spirit that has been instrumental in shaping the culture of Main Street Social. A natural connector, Ruben has always had a gift for bringing people together — and that talent found its perfect home in the hospitality world. His partnership with John wasn't just a business decision; it was the natural next step for two friends who had been talking about building something great for years.
Ruben's influence is felt in the atmosphere, the entertainment programming, and the warmth that guests experience the moment they walk through the door. He's also the proud owner of Rico — the French Bulldog who flew in from Puerto Rico and immediately claimed the bar top as his own.
